Alexander Lebedev graduated from the Vladimir Music College in 1992, the department of folk choral singing, where he began learning to play the Vladimir horn. Then he became a soloist, and later - the head of the student ensemble of horn players. In 1997, he graduated from the Moscow State University of Culture in the specialty "Leader of the folk singing group".

For almost two decades, Alexander Lebedev has been directing the ensemble "Vladimir Horn Players", making musical arrangements and instrumentation of folk songs. He teaches playing folk instruments, special disciplines at the department of folk singing at the Vladimir Regional College of Music named after A.P. Borodin.

Alexander Lebedev annually conducts master classes at advanced training courses for teachers of music schools and leaders of folk groups in different regions of the country. Repeatedly was a member of the jury and organizer of all-Russian and regional festivals-contests of folk art. Laureate of all-Russian and international creative competitions. For many years of fruitful work and achievements in the development of culture, he was awarded the Certificate of honor of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, twice marked with the Commendation from the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation. He has the Gratitude from the State Russian House of Folk Art named after V.D. Polenov, diplomas of the administration of the Vladimir region.

In 2013, Alexander Lebedev was awarded the "Soul of Russia" prize of the Government of the Russian Federation for his great contribution to the development of folk art. In 2019, he was awarded the honorary title "Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation".
